PEAR installable phpMyAdmin Released

I'm happy to announce the release of Pearified.com's first application release -- phpMyAdmin 2.6.3-pl1.

Release Your Next Project as a PEAR 1.4.0 Package

The timing on this couldn't be better, with PEAR 1.4.0 going into beta in a few days.

php|a August 2005My latest php|architect article is out in the August 2005 issue. The synopsis reads:

With the release of a stable PEAR 1.4.0 installer on the horizon, now is a good time to get familiar with the new features provided by PEAR 1.4.0 that can make distribution of your open source and proprietary libraries and applications easier than ever before. Returning author Clay Loveless gives you a practical example in this piece.

The practical example is ... phpMyAdmin. I'll be releasing the PEAR packaged phpMyAdmin application later today on Pearified.com.

If you have any questions about the article or would like to discuss it further, please comment below or post on the php|a forum dedicated to the article.

While I'm at it, I'm planning a Pearified.com release of JPSpan as well, which will help those of you following Josh Eichorn's AJAX examples. Harry Fuecks and I talked about putting JPSpan up on Pearified.com a few weeks ago, and I've gotten bogged down in other aspects of the site. So, stay tuned for a few Pearified.com releases today. :D

Pearfied Planet RSS Feed Available

Following up on my post from a few days ago, the Pearfied Planet RSS feed is now available.

Named in honor of the Planet PHP feed, as well as the desire to PEARify the planet, the feed aggregates package release announcements from Pearified.com, pear.php.net, and all other PEAR channels in the Pearified Channel Directory.

The feed is available at: http://pearified.com/planet.xml

PEAR Channel Directory

I've opened up a PEAR Channel Directory on Pearified.com -- if you have a PEAR channel, or know of one, swing by and add it to the list.

Pearified Progress

As Josh mentioned, I have made some progress getting the Pearified project going, and have added some cool JavaScript packages to the (now out of date) Smarty package.

I'll be releasing a PEAR-installable phpMyAdmin through Pearified soon (probably next week), and am working on getting forums and mailing lists set up as well. I'm traveling right now, so it's tough to find some time to make updates.

But, I've got a nice packaging routine in place, which is making getting new packages of non-traditional projects (not traditional PEAR-style libraries, that is) put together very quickly. Keep an eye out on Pearified.com for some new packages very soon.

Also, you may want to check out the Everything Pearified blog, which is how I intend to manage the support/info area of the Pearified site.
